Hurricanes Irma and Harvey left behind mass destruction, with local hospitals being particularly devastated. One organization needed to identify which of its members (hospital and health systems) were in harm’s way and alert Members of Congress to the positive impact those institutions would play in saving lives.
To accomplish this, we quickly built custom dashboards and filters in Nucleus. Because the addresses in their association management system, iMIS, did not include congressional districts, Nucleus blended in a public data source to enrich the data with this information. The organization used the following bar charts to gain an understanding of which hospitals and congressional districts would be potentially impacted and how many hospital beds the storms might affect:

Armed with this information, the organization used Nucleus to create a list of each member organization in a high risk zone. This included available contact information and could be exported for immediate outreach:

Using these visualizations to estimate the storms’ impact, this proactive organization creatively and effectively prepared to help their members in crisis, and ultimately, support individuals that would need medical care in the aftermath of the hurricanes.
Nucleus blended the data from disparate systems in a simple way that would have otherwise been challenging to view, and displayed an easy interface that quickly gave the association actionable information in a time-sensitive, high-impact storm season. Equipped with this information, the association was prepared to swiftly execute targeted relief efforts.
